For the sake of clarity, by analyzing the behavior of the political parties, we should determine who is responsible for the leadership of our country. The basis of the principle of popular sovereignty is the result of the parliamentary elections that take place every four years - it is worth starting the analysis from here. Local government and EP representative elections every five years are only elements of the consequences of the domestic and European elections, writes László Csizmadia, president of CÖF-CÖKA, in his blog post.
Looking at the indicators of the participation of the domestic parties, we can see that in the current cycle of our parliament, FIDESZ-KDNP was able to form a government with a two-thirds majority, and accordingly, it received the trust of the electorate and the accompanying considerable responsibility. We can assume that
the majority of two-thirds of the electorate regarded the specific goals of the government as their own and took an obligatory part in their implementation.
Setting aside special events, the voters evaluate the results of the joint work at the end of the four-year cycle.
It is a natural phenomenon that the situation changes rapidly in the world, in Europe and in Hungary, taking into account political and economic factors. We also have to assume that the community of voters and the government they elect both want to achieve the designated goal. It is not just an assumption, but without abandoning the essential elements of the political and economic strategy
in the election cycle, efforts must be made to adjust tactical elements, even as a result of unexpected events.
During the governing cycle, let's compare the validation of the idealism of the various opposition parties to a long-distance (ten thousand meter) running race. In this case, we have seen several times that, taking into account the meters run, the ranking can change several times. It is important for every fan that his favorite competitor reaches the finish line first (who laughs at the end?).
We can consider it permissible for the concerned voters to evaluate the performances provided based on facts. Perhaps it is no coincidence that the economic results of the country play a decisive role in this regard. We are talking about an increase in the standard of living and the foundations of faith in the future, when we consider the prosperity of individuals and families as the most important element of the evaluation.
A wider outlook is also needed.
Political performance and economic indicators go hand in hand.
In the cycle following the election, the population and the voters, since they have given their trust to the government, can expect that the government will responsibly coordinate these two indispensable, socially important factors for their benefit.
We have to deal with those civil factors, without which the elected government, even with its most active attitude, cannot fulfill its important promises for society as a whole. When we talk about the principle of popular sovereignty, we must first of all acknowledge that the success of our country from an economic point of view is determined not only by the contribution of our leaders, but also by the contribution of employees and employers. Both physical and mental work is required. All those who consider themselves the winners of the parliamentary elections must show that they also considered the implementation of their ideas to be their own task.
The task of the winners is to take their success further.
The unity that satisfied the majority of Hungarian society for 15 years was the result of the will of the majority of voters and the undivided cooperation of FIDESZ-KDNP and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
What the opposition party formations provided to our citizens during this time is, to put it mildly, a success story. The government's activities before 2010 caused permanent wounds to our country, both politically and economically. We were able to learn the lessons.
So it is a fact that
the electorate can only be misled for a while with lies, good humor, and sick egotism.
Confirm this with a self-confession ("we lied morning, night and evening"). We have learned that jumping on the dance floor and irresponsible barrel talk do not ensure the ability to lead our country. At the same time, we can evaluate aptitude, respect for morality, quantifiable positive results, and orientation in the world. To all this must be added patriotism and loyalty.
Before the regime change, the Hungarians were convinced that the fence in the west was made of sausages. Where is this now? Today, we are faced with the fact that many Western countries and the United States are building their defense lines and fences from concrete and iron.
We think of ourselves as an equal member of the European Union, and we act as such. Without hiding our opinion, we recommend to our peers that it is time to end the Russo-Ukrainian war, prevent violent illegal immigration, and make an effort to stop the carpet bombing of Judeo-Christian culture.
We have the opportunity to protect the sovereignty of our country and our ideals despite the internal and external attacks with our manual and intellectual work.
We must move along with the natural change of the world. Drawing from our historical past, we avoid political and economic blockade, because we can only lose from it. Let's fight against the fairy-tale red foxes who want to sing the cheese out of our mouths.
It is only up to us, as envied citizens in Europe, standing on a morally solid foundation, and as a result of joint work, to win again and again.
