Csaba Dömötör, a member of the European Parliament of Fidesz, drew attention in his statement in Strasbourg on Tuesday to the fact that the European People's Party (EPP) signed a cooperation agreement with the socialist and liberal factions, to which the Green faction is also expected, this will greatly influence the decision-making in the coming years in the European Parliament.

"This agreement means that while European voters voted for change in June, the Left-Popular coalition wants to continue the policy of the same."

he pointed out.

As he said

according to the text of the agreement, the cooperation of the left-wing populist factions is for the entire European Parliament cycle, i.e. for five years.

The signatories support the full implementation of the migration pact, which aims to distribute migrants and impose severe penalties for those who do not wish to participate. They also advocate war support for Ukraine, rejecting peace talks regardless of the outcome of the US election and the growing chances of an escalation of the war. They continue to reserve the right to use the rule of law instrument and support the withholding of Hungary's EU resources, he explained.

He added:

"the agreement also states that new sources of income are needed in the European Union, so additional burdens would be placed on the necks of European citizens and businesses to deal with the unsustainable situation that has developed: that the money has gone to the war and the coffers are empty" .

Csaba Dömötör emphasized that the leftist-populist pact is fundamentally at odds with Hungary's interests: Hungary rejects immigration, wants border protection instead of migration, opposes war and does not want the EU coffers to be emptied due to war. He is also opposed to Brussels being given greater financial latitude at the expense of the member states.

He also pointed out that the pact was signed by both the DK and the Tisza Party - as the agreement was concluded by their factions.

"So this is the alliance of Ferenc Gyurcsány and Péter Magyar, of those who have been working against their own country for years, and of those who feel it is their duty to align themselves with the position of the EPP in everything. Let's see what this means in practice. This is the price of a politician being recommended by the Brussels elite to the attention of Hungarians"

he said.

He added that while the socialist and liberal factions announced the pact with great pride, the EPP tried to "smother" the information about it.

"Of course, this agreement fundamentally affects how the Patriot faction will vote on Wednesday in the European Parliament on the new European Commission as a whole"

Csaba Dömötör concluded his statement.
