"These researches could even have been old attempts at manipulation, because they had little to do with reality," pointed out the research director of the Center for Fundamental Rights.
The opposition pollsters publish wishful thinking surveys on the left - the Fundamental Rights Center announced on Friday, which in its statement highlights: Attila Mesterházy, Gordon Bajnai, Mária Sándor, Gábor Vona, Gergely Karácsony, Péter Márki-Zay and Péter Magyar are all "proclaimed saviors" of the domestic left , his messiahs”, about whom at least one opposition pollster tried prove that he can and will defeat Fidesz.
"These researches could even have been junk manipulation experiments, because they had little to do with reality"
Erik Tóth, research director of the Fundamental Rights Center, is quoted in the announcement as saying that none of the listed opposition candidates leading in public opinion polls managed to win an election after 2010. These researches did not serve the interests of the public or the profession, on the contrary, they increased distrust towards the authors of the surveys in a general sense," he added.
Erik Tóth put it this way: the main function of the research was to betray hope, as well as to unsettle the right-wing political camp.
"The saying goes that you couldn't step into the same river twice. However, with the appearance of Péter Magyar, it was confirmed that this is possible seven times, you just have to want it: this week Závecz Research, and before that in Media, proved that the Tisza is leading, although unfortunately Publicus also came to this conclusion by accident, which, knowing the historical antecedents rather an ominous sign," explained the director.
He also pointed out that the left-wing think tank network was optimistic between 2010 and 2022, "almost in advance, it started to distribute the portfolios that they had selected for themselves as a result of the research that envisioned the victory of the opposition coalition."
According to Erik Tóth, before the 2024 European Parliament elections, they were cautious, restrained and announced realistic results, because then everyone knew that the honor of the profession had to be protected.
"Now, however, they are publishing data that is completely contrary to that of reliable pollsters for one reason: they want to achieve that a left-wing collective party is built by 2026," he emphasized, adding: "it is not Péter Magyar who is interesting, but what Ferenc Gyurcsány has already put on paper planted in 2014: they are carving out a unified and sole opposition alternative, by devaluing the voter base of smaller left-wing parties, through the appreciation of the Tisza."
He also touched on the fact that there are more than 16 months left until the 2026 parliamentary elections, so now anything can be published "without risk", "at most, the contradictory data of individual research companies will cause some inconvenience to the public."
