A political statement urging a stricter migration policy was adopted by those present at the outdoor meeting of the European Parliament group of Patriots for Europe on Friday in Budapest.
Today, Patriots represent freedom in the European Parliament
Gál Kinga, the first vice-chairman of the Patriots for Europe group, said at the meeting held in the upper chamber of the Parliament: they decided to make migration the subject of the joint declaration, because today there is the most urgent need for action in this area.
Today, there is clearly a migration crisis in Europe, which threatens the future of the continent - assessed the Fidesz MEP.
He said that the pro-immigration majority in Brussels "pushed through" the migration pact before the EU elections, which forces old bad solutions and instead of stopping illegal migration, it further encourages migration to Europe. Therefore, according to the patriots, this should be thrown out and the European migration policy should be placed on a completely new basis, he stated.
Kinga Gál said that according to the package of proposals, they call for effective external border protection and demand a complete ban on illegal border crossings. The principle that only those who have the right to do so can enter and stay in the territory of the European Union must be validated, he said.
There is also a need for a regular review of refugee status, as well as the immediate expulsion from the EU of asylum seekers who commit crimes and hold extremist views. Decisive action is recommended against civil and lobbying organizations organizing illegal migration to Europe, explained the MEP representative. He added that the member states are encouraged to respond to the demographic challenges facing our continent by developing national family policy measures instead of advocating more migration.
They also demand that the member states are not prevented from introducing strict immigration rules, and that the member states can opt out of the EU's migration regulations, get a so-called off-out, and regain their full sovereignty in migration matters. They call on the EU institutions to immediately withdraw all sanctions that punish member states that have taken effective measures to stop illegal migration. They insist that the member states can decide for themselves who they will let into their territory, explained Kinga Gál.
He said that they clearly reject Brussels' immigration policy and the exercise of political pressure against those member states and leaders who act effectively against illegal migration within their national competence.
In his speech, Jordan Bardella, the president of the Patriots for Europe group, called mass migration the most serious threat to the future of Europe. He drew attention to the irreversibility of the process and believed that migration transforms nation-states, enclaves are formed everywhere where non-Western-type laws prevail.
He criticized the EU migration pact, with which, according to him, the leaders of the union opened the continent's doors to everyone, and they want to make it mandatory to distribute migrants throughout Europe.
According to him, the European Court of Human Rights and the European leaders are blackmailing the governments that do not do this, so they want to make Hungary accept the pact by withholding EU funds.
Jordan Bardella warned: Europe should not organize its own suicide, finance its own destruction. According to him, the European Commission practically supports its own enemies, such as Muslim organizations, or finances campaigns that call for the wearing of headscarves.
We must take our destiny, our societies, our territories, our countries and our borders into our own hands, he insisted, putting forward the prospect of a referendum in France against migration. He rejected the opinion voiced by European institutions that immigrants are needed in the labor market, saying that this statement is simplistic and cannot be an argument for flooding Europe with illegal migrants.
