Only those nations can be the winners of the changes that make the most of themselves, said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Tuesday in Budapest, at the handover of the renovated pavilion buildings of the University of Veterinary Medicine in István Street.

Hungary, as the westernmost eastern and easternmost western nation, wants to be connected to all the world's economic powerhouses, we are making good progress with this, and the Hungarian universities will be the big winners of this, said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

According to the Prime Minister's assessment, the world is on the verge of radical changes, the liberal world order is over, and only those nations that make the most of themselves can be the winners of the changes. they are able to discover the power inherent in our national character, they become insignificant in a short time.

He emphasized: Hungary is preparing to place its role in the international arena on a new basis.

"We don't want to follow the path set by others, but we want to take advantage of our own history, our own economic structure and our own culture"

said the Prime Minister.

He emphasized: Hungarian veterinary science is still world-renowned, the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hungary offers perhaps the highest quality education, most scientific discoveries are made here, and the institution is among the 150 best universities in the world, something every Hungarian can rightly be proud of.

He added that the university's goal is to be among the top 50 institutions, and with the new buildings and new research laboratories that have just been handed over, this can be achieved.

From now on, a background is available that enables the teachers and researchers studying here to perform above average in terms of research results, international publications and the development of patents.

Viktor Orbán indicated that what is happening at the University of Veterinary Medicine is part of the new era of Hungarian higher education. He added: the goal is for Hungarian universities to be at the forefront of the world. He drew attention to the fact that, according to the latest EU data, Hungary spends the most in proportion to GDP on higher education in the entire European Union.

He explained that in the last ten years, Hungary has tripled the resources for research and development, thanks to which five years ago there were only seven, and now there are 12 Hungarian universities in the top 5 percent of the world. He added: the number of foreign university students studying in Hungary has doubled in 10 years.

He stressed: "we will not let Brussels beat the dust on young Hungarians due to the protection of our sovereignty" , which is why the government created the Pannónia scholarship program. "We don't need other people's money, we ourselves are able to create fruitful scientific collaborations with the best universities in the world," he added.

He referred to the planned renovation of the other buildings of the University of Veterinary Medicine and stated that: in 2025, they hope to end the war, return the operation of the European economy to normal, put the Hungarian economy on a growth path and generate the financial resources necessary for the further development of the university.
