He is the sixth short course world champion of Hungarian swimming.
Hubert Kós won a gold medal in the 200-meter backstroke on the final day of the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Hungarian classic triumphed with a European record time of 1:45.65 minutes, just two centuries short of the world record.
The long-distance Olympic champion - who previously won a silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke at the Duna Arena - is the sixth short course world champion of Hungarian swimming after Katinka Hosszú, Dániel Gyurta, Péter Bernek, Béla Szabados and Saturday's gold medalist Zalán Sárkány.
