Barbara Ónodi-Klausler, the Hungarian gymnast sister of the Olympic champion, reported on her social media page about the changes in the Olympian's health.
The sister of Henrietta Ónodi, the Olympic champion in jumping at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Barbara Ónodi-Klausler announced this summer that her sister had a heart attack in the spring and was hospitalized in a serious condition, where complications worsened.
So far, 33 thousand dollars have been collected for Henrietta Ónodi's treatment
The 50-year-old ex-gym has been receiving treatment in the United States ever since, and his sister reported early last week that her brother's rehabilitation is showing promising improvement.
There is hope for recovery - Henrietta Ónodi's family is grateful to the Hungarian people
In her latest Facebook post, Barbara Ónodi-Klausler provided new information about the condition of Henrietta Ónodi, and in the post she also revealed details about the Christmas preparations of the children of the Olympic champion athlete.
"I would like to share some happy news from the past few weeks, although progress is very slow, gradual but tangible progress has been made in Heni's condition. He continues to do physical therapy exercises and receive therapies and we are seeing encouraging improvement.
Heni can now hold the glasses and eat independently. He is able to sit up in bed, turn over and move his legs independently. In addition, he is learning to communicate again and proudly says his full name:
Henrietta Ónodi. Furthermore, Heni is now learning other things: he has started counting, adding and subtracting.
Although his past memories have not yet returned, we all trust him and they will recover in time
- wrote the gymnast's brother of the Olympic champion on his social media page in both English and Hungarian.
– Your children put up Christmas decorations in the house, I want to share a picture that was taken last Sunday. In addition, they asked me to express their deep gratitude and thanks for their continuous support to their beloved mother - added Barbara Ódodi-Klausler, who thanked everyone for their kindness and support, "which allowed Heni to go through such an inspiring development".
