"We choose love, and love fills our hearts with hope."
According to Pope Francis, we should not wait for the future with gloom and resignation, even if we cannot know what tomorrow will bring.
On Saturday, the head of the Catholic Church stated in the BBC's daily religious program (Thought for the Day, in which church leaders express their daily thoughts) that wars, social injustices, and the many forms of violence experienced on a daily basis are not the cause either. to discouragement, because "we choose love, and love fills our hearts with hope."
He added: those who live in love always look at the world with gentle hope, even if they find themselves in an uncertain situation.
According to Pope Francis, kindness is not a diplomatic strategy, or even a set of rules aimed at achieving social harmony or other benefits. Kindness is also a form of love that opens people's hearts to acceptance and teaches them modesty, the head of the church emphasized.
He added: the importance of modesty lies in the fact that it promotes dialogue, avoids misunderstandings and makes people grateful.
Pope Francis concluded his thoughts by saying that hope - combined with faith and charity - is a theological virtue, and he hopes that in the current holy year people will show kindness as an expression of love, thus creating relationships with others.
The leader of the Catholic Church also expressed his hope that the New Year will bring peace to the world.
