János F., suspected of the brutal murder of the boy from Baja, remains in custody after the second instance court upheld the previous decision of the Kecskemét District Court.
The second-instance court upheld the arrest of János F. on Thursday, said the spokesperson of the Kecskemét Court. It is to be remembered that, a few weeks ago, the Bács-Kiskun County Prosecutor's Office proposed the arrest of the man suspected of murdering Tamás Till for the crime of manslaughter committed with particular cruelty, for the injury of a person under the age of fourteen, for a nefarious reason.
The Kecskemét District Court, acting in the first instance, arrested the man for thirty days, which was upheld by the second-instance judge's decision today.
On May 28, 2000, the 11-year-old Tamás Till started riding his bicycle from his home in Baja to the nearby wildlife park. After that, the boy disappeared, only his bicycle was found. Tamás Till was wanted by the police as a missing person for years.
On August 1 of last year, the investigating authority announced that the boy's remains had been found and that a homicide investigation had been launched.
János F. finally confessed to the murder as a witness, but was released for the first time after his interrogation because, according to the authorities, since he was a minor at the time of the murder, his criminal liability expired after 15 years.
In the end, the prosecution took the position that the murder was not statute-barred, so the man was arrested later.
