What Volodymyr Zelenskyi says recently is just propaganda, it has nothing to do with reality - György Nógrádi opined in HírTV's program Napindító in response to the reporter's suggestion that the Ukrainian president stated in his New Year's speech that Donald Trump's unpredictability might even be beneficial for them.
The security policy expert cited as an example that Zelensky said that 34,000 people had died in the war since its outbreak, according to Western data, this number is 600,000. The Ukrainian president also said: he knows that the Slovak and Hungarian people are with him
"Why would you be next to him?" - asked Nógrádi, then mentioned that the president will punish everyone, since he will not allow Russian gas to pass through the territory of Ukraine from the first of January.
"But the energy will come through the Turks, and thus they and those whose territories it will pass through will pocket the benefit," he added. According to the expert, Zelensky's base is dwindling, the population does not agree with him, conscription is held, which cannot be used to run an army.
The Slovak government is taking countermeasures to Zelenskiy's "sabotage action".
“But it also isolates itself internationally. The Slovak prime minister announced that if the Ukrainian president continues like this, the amount spent on the care of Ukrainians staying in Slovakia will be reduced. And at the handing over of Notre Dame, it was clear how condescendingly US President-elect Donald Trump treated him," added Nógrádi, who believes that Zelenskyi's claim that time is working for him is not true, but neither is it true that he has achieved everything.
The opposite of these two statements is true - claimed Nógrádi, adding that he also considers the Ukrainian president's New Year's speech tragic.
The presenter mentioned a December survey in Ukraine, according to which fewer and fewer people are willing to bear the burdens of war in the hope of a ceasefire, peace, and victory; only 57 percent of the population there, this ratio was 63 percent in October and 73 percent in February. Nógrádi stated that Trump will sit down with Vladimir Putin and agree on Zelensky's head. And returning to the unpredictability of the American president-elect, he said, this will not be an advantage for the Ukrainian president, there are two important areas in the foreign policy priorities of the United States, the Middle East and Taiwan, Ukraine does not belong here.
The expert called it strange that even in the last weeks, the outgoing American administration is supporting Ukraine with enormous sums, which prolongs the war and makes the situation of the Republicans more difficult.
According to Nógrádi, the Americans will accept that the Russians are not willing to negotiate on Crimea, on the other hand, there can be a compromise on the issue of Donbas, and it is not worth declaring that Ukraine will never become a NATO member, because "never" is incomprehensible in foreign policy, but, it is certain that he will not join the military alliance for the foreseeable future, said György Nógrádi.
