While the world is struggling with a version of the coronavirus that is more contagious than ever before - and Hungary is struggling too -, the Capital City Government is inviting the people of Budapest to a party.
The mayor, Gergely Karácsony, constantly attacks the government, according to him, the prevention of epidemics is insufficient, that much more people should be vaccinated much faster (although he is silent about where to get a vaccine for mass vaccination, while even the big countries of Europe do not have access to it), it seems that it is not takes defense seriously. The invitation can be read on the Budapest Portal, according to which the capital will hold its programs planned for the anniversary of the 1848-49 revolution and freedom struggle. Although the government does not hold the central ceremony, in most cities only wreath-laying is allowed with the participation of a few people, but Budapest is different, isn't it.
In its announcement on Thursday, it can be read that interested parties are waiting for a poster exhibition, a treasure hunt game (it's true, it's on the phone) and a nostalgia tram from March 13 to 15. between. Starting this weekend, the Pest quay between Margit híd and Közraktár utca will be reopened. From now on, pedestrians, walkers, and cyclists can take possession of it again every weekend until the start of the investments affecting the quay. The Chain Bridge will be closed to car traffic for the three-day weekend, it will only be used on foot, which also gives you the opportunity to say goodbye: from March 17 until the end of the renovation, you will not be able to walk across the Chain Bridge.
Gergely Karácsony recently claimed that the capital is handling the epidemic better than the government. According to them, the city administration believes that mass events can stand in the way of this virus.
Yeah, a little thing. As if a ban on gatherings is in effect. Or does this not apply to Budapest residents?
