In December 2020, Pope Francis announced the Year of Families, which will begin on March 19, 2021 and end on June 22, when the World Meeting of Families will be held in Rome.
In his speech before the start of the Angelus prayer, he explained that on the occasion of the anniversary of an apostolic exhortation (Amoris laetitia) issued five years ago, he announced the Year of Families with the intention of expanding its content with new proposals. The document caused a lot of controversy at the time. The head of the church called on all Catholics in the world to participate in events related to the Year of Families. The prayer was held in the Vatican library. The number of participants was not disclosed by the news agencies.
The Pope put it this way: "don't forget these three words, which especially help to live in unity in the family: 'Free?' - to not be intrusive, to respect the other; »Thank you!« - to thank each other in the family; and "I'm sorry!" - if we did something wrong. Say the latter before the end of the day: reconcile before the end of the day.”
