In addition to the expressed full agreement and strong roots, one of the main messages of today's event was the relationship of the new party to autonomy - that "realistic goals must be set, such that Slovakian partners can be found for them - and another main message was that the MKP's political 20 minutes before the start of the press conference, he canceled his participation.
An agreement has been reached in the Felvidék on the creation of a unified Hungarian interest representation, the new party will be called the Alliance - Hungarians, nationalities, regions - announced the parties that created the new political group - the Party of the Hungarian Community (MKP), the Most-Híd party and the Unity - presidents at their press conference in Bratislava on Tuesday.
The agreement leading to the establishment of a unified political party was preceded by a unification process of almost two years, characterized by repeated stalls in negotiations.
"We have taken another serious and important step towards the political unification of the Hungarians in the highlands," declared Krisztián Forró, the president of the MKP. He stated: the new party will be a Hungarian party, a Hungarian party that will also represent the other nationalities living in the regions.
At the beginning of February, the MKP and Most-Híd announced that they would create the unified Hungarian party in the highlands, as their compromise proposals to the third negotiating partner – the Unity dwarf party – did not lead to results. In this context, Krisztián Forró answered MTI's question: further compromises were necessary on the part of everyone, but in the end they found a common voice.
Based on the agreement of the founders of the new party, the party chairman will be appointed by the MKP, the chairman of the party's National Council will be delegated by Most-Híd, and a professional vice-chairman will be delegated by Özszefogas.
When asked about the possibilities of future cooperation with Slovak parties, Forró said: in the future, with the exception of extreme political forces, they will negotiate with all parties that can contribute to improving the situation of Hungarians in the highlands.
László Sólymos, the president of Híd, referred to today as a historic moment. He compared the importance of the union of the 3 parties to the creation of the coalition in 1998 - the piquancy of which is that this coalition was overthrown just a decade later by Most-Híd, which he now leads, though still under the command of Béla Bugár.
Will autonomy be a priority?
To Felvidék.ma's question whether the issue of autonomy and self-determination will be a priority for the new party, Mózes Szabolcs, president of Széfgogás, answered: there are two cornerstones, one is the preservation and development of the Hungarian community, ensuring its legal framework - " here, of course, we can talk about self-government, ensuring minority rights, ensuring language rights, and adopting a minority law".
The other basic pillar is the catching up of southern Slovakia, which is basically an economic, social and infrastructural issue. Mózes Szabolcs added: realistic goals must be set, such that "Slovak partners can also be found for them".
But what happened to Berényi?
korkep.sk , who was present, the fact that the political brain of the MKP, the second man of the party, general vice president József Berényi, canceled his participation 20 minutes before the start of the press conference . In response to the newspaper's question, Krisztián Forró said that he too was surprised by Berényi's announcement via SMS. Forró did not wish to discuss in particular what kind of message this has to the voters, and whether Berényi wants to be part of the Alliance, and directed the press staff to Berényi. korkep.sk reached the advisor of the prime minister, Igor Matovič, but he did not want to comment...
