We are in the rapidly rising branch of the third wave of the epidemic, the British virus mutant is spreading very quickly, the number of active infected people and hospitalized patients is increasing significantly, so the restrictions are still in place. Please observe the precautions!
The number of new infections is 10,167, thus increasing the number of identified infections to 624,779 since the start of the epidemic. Most of the 253 who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of those who died rose to 19,752.
The number of recovered people is constantly increasing, currently 393,999 people, but the number of active infected people has also risen to 211,028 people. 11,779 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals, of which 1,512 are on ventilators. The vaccination program is running smoothly and according to schedule, Hungary is second in the EU vaccination ranking list.
The vaccination rate of the Hungarian population reached 18.5% compared to the EU average of 10.2%. Due to their vulnerability, the registered elderly are still in the queue for vaccination. Vaccination continues with Pfizer at hospital vaccination points, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Moderna at general practitioners. The government also decided on campaign-style vaccination of kindergarten, school and nursery workers.
