It is not too late for those living in the highlands to officially declare themselves Hungarian. As of February 15, 78 percent of the Slovak population participated in the census, which means more than 4.4 million participants. Most people (84%) filled in the data in Zsolna county, said census spokeswoman Jasmína Stauder.

The participation rate is over 80% in Trencsé (82%) and Nagyszombat counties (81%), while in Bratislava county the rate is exactly eighty percent. In Nyitra county, 79 percent of the residents filled out the census form, followed by the population of Besztercebánya (76%), Eperjes (75%) and Kassa county (71%).

The census questionnaire can be filled out online until March 31, while from the first of April to the end of October, enumerators will travel the country and assist in filling it in, and enumeration centers will also operate. More information is available on the census website.
