According to Sunday's results, Hungary topped the EU ranking list in terms of the vaccination rate of the adult population. For a long time, we were in second place behind Malta, but now we have overtaken the island nation, if only by a hair's breadth, as can be read on the Portfolio page.

According to Sunday data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, 21.6 percent of the adult population in Hungary received at least their first vaccination, while Malta is in second place with a rate of 21.5 percent. With this, our country moved from the second place on the imaginary podium to the first place, they wrote .

The map below shows the proportion of the population over the age of 18 vaccinated in each EU member state, with at least the first dose of vaccine. The darker green a country is, the higher this ratio is. (The dark green color of Malta, which lies below Italy, is not strongly visible on the map, but they are in second place.)

By the way, the Hungarian figure far exceeds the EU average, as it stands at 12.3 percent. It is worth recalling what Viktor Orbán said in his video two weeks ago. In this, the prime minister emphasized that Hungary is not competing with other European countries, but with the virus, we want to defeat the virus.

Hungary can remain a leader in terms of vaccination coverage in the EU, the prime minister predicted in mid-March.
