The renovation of the Schulhof promenade and park around Lake Hévíz, costing around HUF 634 million, will begin: the characteristic sycamore trees will remain, but at the same time, nearly 13,000 new plants will be planted. Part of the transformation that gives more insight into the lake is the construction of a music pavilion and a sacred exhibition space, the renovation of the fountain, the pergolas, the irrigation system and the rainwater drainage.

On Thursday, with the handover of the work area, the renovation of the promenade and park around Lake Hévíz will begin, costing about HUF 634 million, announced the mayor of the city at the press conference held on the spot on Wednesday.

Gábor Papp (Fidesz-KDNP) explained: at the tender of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program (Ginop), the settlements preserving the heritage of the Festetics jointly won HUF 1,256 million for the preservation of the historical and spiritual values of the noble family. In partnership with the Hungarian Tourism Agency, within the framework of the tender involving Keszthely and Gyenesdias, Hévíz can spend HUF 634 million on the renovation of the park in front of the main entrance to the lake bath and the Schulhof promenade.

In the nature conservation area, the works were planned to protect the flora and fauna, which will begin on Thursday with the handover of the work area, and the deadline for completion is April next year. The typical sycamore trees will remain, only 63 non-native shrubs or trees will be removed, while nearly 13,000 new plants and additional annual flowers will be planted, the mayor listed.

Part of the transformation that gives more insight into the lake is the construction of a music pavilion and a sacred exhibition space, the renovation of the fountain, the pergolas, the irrigation system and the rainwater drainage. The lawn area will be updated on nearly 11,000 square meters, decorative covering will be built on almost 6,600 square meters, and 95 new candelabra will be erected, he added.

Gábor Papp put it this way: the transformations currently taking place in Hévíz will be completed by the start of next year's tourist season, so not only the green area around the lake will be renewed, but also the protected forest, and the bus station can be moved from the vicinity of the lake this summer in order to create a new event space in its place .

Zsuzsanna Mándó , the general director of the Hévíz Spa and Szent András Rheumatism Hospital, spoke about the importance of the renovations that are now starting in the area of the hospital because it is an emblematic place for Hévíz. He also reminded that it is in the common interest of the city and the medical institution that as many people as possible can heal and recharge thanks to the Festetics in a city with more than 220 years of medical history.
