Vaccination is ongoing, the number of vaccinated people is 2,608,084, of which 1,077,947 have already received their second vaccination. The number of new infections is 4,814, thus increasing the number of identified infections to 698,490 since the start of the epidemic. Most of the 272 people who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of people who died rose to 22,681.

The number of people who have recovered is also constantly increasing, currently 419,765 people, but the number of active infected people has also risen to 256,044 people. 11,663 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, of which 1,337 are on ventilators. Hungary is second in the EU vaccination rankings. After the number of vaccinated people exceeded 2.5 million on Tuesday, the phased restart could begin on Wednesday. From today until Sunday, the out-of-order vaccination of nursery, kindergarten and school workers will continue at hospital vaccination points. General practitioners can also continue sending registered patients to hospital vaccination points, where they can now continue vaccination with Pfizer and Szputnyik vaccines.

The condition for the first stage of the gradual lifting of protective measures was 2.5 million vaccinated. Thus, the decree on dissolutions entered into force on Wednesday.

  • The curfew is changed to the period between 10 pm and 5 am . One of the cases of exemption from the curfew is work, which, however, must be proven.
  • Shops may be open between 5 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
  • Shops, including those that have been closed since March 8, may be open according to new, square meter-based rules . On average, there can be one customer per 10 square meters in the store according to the new regulations.
  • Temporary protection measures related to services will be lifted, allowing hairdressers, beauticians and other service providers to open.
  • After the extraordinary vaccination of teachers, schools and kindergartens will start again on April 19 .

The currently effective protection measures against the epidemic will be extended until April 19, the government decree to this effect was published in the Magyar Közlöny on Wednesday evening.

The police strictly check compliance with the rules, can impose fines, and close down places that do not follow the rules. The soldiers support the work of the police in several cities of the country and relieve the health workers in the hospital.
