It's not even the first time, since this has been repeated every year since 2004 and, according to NNI's calculations, it has caused around HUF 2 billion in damage so far. Unfortunately, despite the repeated protests of the Hungarian government, we have not been able to reach an agreement with the countries that sent the garbage.

But not only does garbage come from abroad, illegal waste disposal is also increasing in our country. That is why the government is paying extra attention to the eradication of illegal landfills. That is why the Let's Clean the Country! tender, in the framework of which companies, church or civil organizations, and local governments could apply for support to clean an area of waste or to build a system suitable for preventing further illegal littering.

This year, with a total of about HUF 2.4 billion in support, you can make every corner of the country cleaner and prevent further illegal waste dumping with the "Clean up the country!" the 285 winners of the competition so far - announced Tamás Schanda. Parliamentary and Strategy Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM). He also drew attention to the fact that by using the Huladékradar mobile application, anyone can easily contribute to the elimination of mountains of garbage.

"We cannot let mountains of garbage overwhelm the country. We thank the work of those who, either within the framework of this tender or in another form, are participating in the struggle to eliminate illegal landfills," he said and added that, unfortunately, there are those who do not behave responsibly at all. "While many people and the government
are working for a clean Hungary, Mayor Gergely Karácsony dismantles about a quarter of the garbage cans on the streets of Budapest."
