In addition to the five million HUF previously approved, the government is supporting the renovation of the Romanian Orthodox church in Méhkerek with an additional HUF 15 million. This year, more than HUF 660 million have already been approved for the development of Romanian communities, churches, educational and cultural institutions in Hungary. With the support of the Hungarian government, development has taken place or is taking place almost everywhere, and the number of children has also increased everywhere.

In addition to the previously approved five million HUF, the government will support the renovation of the Romanian Orthodox church in Méhkerek with an additional HUF 15 million, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for church and ethnic relations announced on the spot on Monday.

Miklós Soltész said that more than HUF 660 million have been approved this year for the development of Romanian communities, churches, educational and cultural institutions in Hungary. The courtyard of the Romanian high school in Gyula will be modernized with 45 million, also in Gyula with 26 million to support the purchase of a community center, the elementary school will be expanded with 35 million, and the roof of the gymnasium of the Körösszakál school will be renovated with 22 million, he explained.

He added that in the current epidemic situation, in addition to restarting the economy, it is also important to nurture souls, in which the churches are their partners. Therefore, they support the renovation of the Romanian church in Körösszakáli and Mezőpeterd with HUF 15 million each, and the Romanian church in Méhkerék with HUF 20 million.

The State Secretary reminded that since 2010, Romanians living in Hungary have received a total of HUF 8 billion in support.

He expressed his hope that these investments will further improve the increasingly strong Hungarian-Romanian relations, and at the same time serve to preserve the Romanian nationality living here.

Kreszta Traján , the Romanian nationalities advocate of the Hungarian Parliament, said that the survival of nationalities has three pillars: the church, the school and the family. The educational institutions of Romanians in Hungary became the property of the National Self-Government of Romanians in Hungary; and with the support of the Hungarian government, development has taken place or is taking place in almost all of them, and the number of children has also increased everywhere.

He expressed his pleasure that, in addition, the government supports minority teacher candidates with scholarships and contributes financially to the renovation of several churches. He added that the cabinet also contributed to the increase of the nationality allowance from 10 to 40 percent.

József Kovács (Fidesz) , the region's parliamentary representative, recalled that the Hungarian state supports 8 tenders in the constituency worth HUF 15 million each, from which they can carry out the renovation and conservation of parishes in addition to churches.

The facade and fence of the Archangels Saint Michael and Gabriel of Méhkerék Romanian Orthodox Church will be renovated, and parking lots will also be created from the amount. The works are expected to be completed this year.

Siluan Manuila, the bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary , said in the church that one of the most respected Romanian communities in Hungary practice their faith here, and they want the church to remain an important center of the community even after the renovation.

Margit Tát (Fidesz-KDNP) told MTI that in the kindergarten next to the church - which operates under the maintenance of the local ethnic self-government - a Romanian ethnic kindergarten will be created with a grant of HUF 150 million; and 5 million won for the construction of parking lots next to the institution.
