Zoltán Balog, the pastor president of the Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church (MRE), asked the Reformed at the synod's meeting on Wednesday to undertake voluntary work in hospitals, help the bereaved and participate in the reorganization of community life in the settlements.

The Reformed bishop emphasized that the church's experts in spiritual care are now greatly needed in hospitals, with the bereaved, and in the resumption of community life in each settlement.

"Let's offer our services," he asked.

The council's presidency, elected in February, recently designated the most important tasks for the next council cycle. The first of these is the mission outside the church, primarily the strengthening of religious education in schools, explained Zoltán Balog.

Among the tasks, he mentioned strengthening the existence of pastors, changing some church laws, rethinking the worship life, developing clear communication that also conveys a sense of mission, and strengthening foreign affairs relations.
