Péter Szijjártó reported on the arrival of another Szputnyik vaccine shipment on his Facebook page this morning.
He announced that the government's cargo plane will arrive from Moscow with 480,000 Sputniks on board . There are 200,000 first-component vaccines on the plane, with the delivery of which Russia fulfilled its contractual obligations regarding first-component vaccines. He added: there are still 280,000 second components on the plane, and 200,000 vaccines will still arrive from this, due to the first component arriving now.
The minister emphasized: "time has proven that we made the right decision to buy vaccines from Russia, because if we hadn't done that, one million fewer people would be safe today."
Meanwhile, on the Magyar Hírlap portal, you can also read that the EU has initiated legal proceedings against AstraZeneca due to the delayed delivery of its vaccine against the coronavirus
The pharmaceutical company, which jointly developed its vaccine with the University of Oxford, has recently reduced the amount of vaccine it ordered in advance. the company announced that instead of 180 million doses, it plans to deliver only 90 million, or even less, of its Vaxzevria vaccine to the European Union in the second quarter.
Among other things, AstraZeneca said the vaccine is difficult to manufacture, as evidenced by the supply challenges faced by many companies in Europe and around the world.
"We believe that any litigation is without merit, but we welcome this opportunity to resolve this dispute as soon as possible," AstraZeneca wrote.
