13 individuals and organizations received professional recognition for activities carried out for the culture of Hungarian nationalities. The Pro Cultura Minoritatum Hungariae awards were presented yesterday in Budapest.

At the ceremony, Zsolt Semjén spoke about the fact that the nationalities represent, carry and cultivate a specific wealth of values ​​that only and exclusively they can cultivate and pass on.

The deputy prime minister also said that he considers the term minority "extremely unfortunate and undeserving", because hearing it one can inevitably associate it with the lesser, "although the nationalities in Hungary are not less than anyone else". he considers nationality and national part to be more accurate expressions than minorities

The prize can be awarded to a person or organization who have contributed to the coexistence of the peoples of the Carpathian Basin by maintaining and developing the cultural heritage of the mother tongue among the nationalities living in Hungary, as well as by their outstanding activities in the field of public culture and culture of the nationalities.

The awards were presented by Zsolt Semjén and Miklós Soltész, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for church and ethnic relations.
