The Ecumenical Church is holding a commemoration today in memory of the victims of the Little Mermaid tragedy on the anniversary day.

During the commemoration, a boat will visit the site of the accident, the Pest bridgehead of the Margaret Bridge, where a wreath will be placed on the water in memory of the passengers and crew.

Mihály Tóth, pastor of the Ecumenical Church, leads the commemorative liturgy and gives a eulogy.

As is known two years ago, on May 29, during Hungary's most serious ship accident, the Viking Sigyn hotel ship collided with the Margit Bridge and crushed the Hableány cruise ship, which sank. There were 35 people on the cruise ship: 33 South Korean tourists and the two-member Hungarian crew. Unfortunately, seven tourists were only rescued,

"With 28 bells, we remember the Hungarian sailors who died during the tragedy, the South Korean family and their companions," said the pastor.

The end of the commemorative ceremony is signaled by a ship's horn.
