From June 1, a number of measures, such as reduced VAT on takeaway food and interest-free quick loans, will continue to help families, residents and businesses.
Tax exemptions and wage subsidies will be available until May 31 for those in sectors that are in a difficult situation due to the crisis, but from June 1, a number of measures, such as reduced VAT on takeaway food and interest-free quick loans, will continue to help families, the population and businesses - András Tállai informed MTI.
The employer's tax exemption in the tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors will continue in May, emphasized the State Secretary responsible for parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Finance.
It is a significant tax relief from several points of view. On the one hand, the tax exemption affects more than 130,000 workers, and on the other hand, the seven-month employer tax exemption for the businesses most affected by the epidemic can be an important step in restarting the economy. The measure represents substantial help, as it can leave almost HUF 30 billion in total for those affected, explained the state secretary.
The May tax exemption can be used by the affected almost 20,000 businesses as simply as possible with minimal administration; you just have to mark the fields designed for this purpose in your monthly tax and contribution declaration. The return for the May period must be sent to the tax office by June 12, he said.
The sectoral and research and development wage subsidy can still be applied for until May 31, of which the government offices have already allocated more than HUF 84 billion by May 8, he added. András Tállai pointed out that after May 31, food and drink sold for takeaway or home delivery will continue to be charged the lowest general sales tax of 5 percent. Since its introduction on November 14, the measure has already left more than HUF 10 billion with those involved.
András Tállai stated that the interest-free restart loan can be the guarantee that Hungary will restart the economy the fastest. The loan, available up to HUF 10 million - which is interest-free, with a grace period of three years - can now be used not only by small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the sectors most affected by the epidemic, but also by small enterprises whose sales revenue has decreased significantly due to the epidemic, he said.
The quick loan can also be of great help to small businesses and associations whose sales revenue last year did not exceed HUF 100 million, and which was at least 30 percent lower than in 2019, and whose average number of employees did not exceed 25 people, he explained. the secretary of state. By May 18, 5,800 requests with a total value exceeding HUF 47 billion were received, noted András Tállai.
