"Due to the anti-Hungarian, communist dictatorship, hundreds of thousands of Hungarians fled Romania to Hungary, especially starting in 1988.
This is how the associations created by Hungarian people from Transylvania came into being in Hungary. The Transylvanian Circle of Szeged was one of the first to be established here, the head of which was Attila Szakács from Csíkborzsova, who moved to Hungary in November 1989. He had previously been arrested in 1961, and then the military tribunal sentenced him to 3 years in prison for his support of the 1956 revolution and because of his protest against the abolition of Bolyai University.
Later, many Transylvanian Hungarians joined associations and thus the National Association of Transylvanian Circles (EKOSZ) was established in 1991, whose first president was Dr. Gábor Buzás, a chief physician from Csík.
One of the member organizations of EKOSZ, EMTE, has been publishing the Átalvető quarterly magazine since 1991, which has been published since 1996 as a joint journal of EKOSZ and EMTE.
In 1916, they participated in the reconstruction of the Szent Kristóf Chapel in Gyilkos-tó by the Romanian army. EKOSZ Gyergyószentmiklós Hajdó István r. cat. together with the archdeacon, he helped to rebuild the chapel by buying brick tickets, and then consecrated it on July 28, 2001.
In 1998, supported by historical and legal arguments, he wrote a request to the competent Hungarian authorities, according to which nowadays the names of our areas beyond the border must be indicated in Hungarian in addition to the foreign language in the documents of those coming from across the border.
In 1999, during the Tisza flood, he helped the children of Hungarian families in trouble by allowing the children to spend their free time for a week in Monoron, with families of Transylvanian origin living there. In addition to the full board, these children were also able to visit Lake Balaton, Esztergom and the Parliament. They also provided financial support to the victims of the 2005 Székelyudvarhely flood.
In 2018, EKOSZ published the Chef's Science, written in 1580 by the head chef of the Principality of Transylvania, which is the first cookbook written in Hungarian and preserved, with the aim of being included in the libraries of all Hungarian high schools and universities in the Carpathian Basin, Hungary, the Highlands, Transcarpathia, Transylvania and Southern Region.
In 2013, EKOSZ contributed to erecting the first statue of the only Székely prince. In addition to EKOSZ, the National Association of Bukovina Székelys, the American Hungarian Coalition, the mayor of Potápi Árpád János Bonyhád and many Hungarians contributed to the installation of the statue in Felsősófalva.
EKOSZ participated in the Hungarian, Christian and national interest work of the Civil Solidarity Forum from the very beginning.
He was an active participant in the first peace march, when foreign and domestic anti-Hungarian forces wanted to overthrow the Hungarian government.
In 2013, EKOSZ participated in the parade and wreath-laying organized by CÖF in Krakow, putting their faith in Polish-Hungarian friendship, just as they participated in joint events with our Polish brothers in Budapest.
The president of EKOSZ, Dr. Sándor Szekeres, is an enthusiastic visitor to Civil Academy events.
EKOSZ initiated at the State Secretariat for National Policy of the Hungarian government that a large székely gate should also be erected at EKOSZ's headquarters in the City of Monor. On June 4, 2021, this gate was erected on National Unity Day. On this occasion, State Secretary Tibor Pogácsás and the president of EKOSZ gave a speech! The gate and its audience were blessed by István Vladár, pastor of the Monor-Kistemplomi Reformed parish. The president of EKOSZ concluded his speech before 10 associations and the audience in Monor with a quote from Wass Albert, which can also be read on the Székely gate in Monor: "To the sacred faith of your ancestors, to the roots of your nation, brother, never be disloyal!"
