The Rákóczi Association organized the weekend of local governments in Sátoraljaújhely, in the Rákóczi camp, in a tradition-creating manner. Half a hundred Hungarian village leaders came to the meeting on Saturday, who support the Hungarian School Choice Program for staying abroad.

It was said at the all-day event: the purpose of the event, in addition to personal meetings and relationship building, is to start a common thinking that promotes the further deepening of Hungarian-Hungarian relations in the Carpathian Basin.

That is why the title "Local Governments for National Preservation" was given to the event, which reviews the role of local governments in national politics, presenting good practices that were born in border cooperation and sister settlement relations.

János Árpád Potápi , the Prime Minister's State Secretary responsible for national policy, spoke at the event about how the local governments did a lot to maintain the national idea and thought in the second half of the 2000s.

In 2010, the government implemented a radical change in national politics in Hungary, which had many results in the past 10-11 years, he said, adding: not a day goes by without some kind of investment, development, or support being handed over to some region or settlement.

    The State Secretary emphasized:

they built a system of relations and created a network of relations, thanks to which it is possible to speak of a unified Carpathian basin again, among other things in terms of education, culture, the economy and the media.

Katalin Szili , the prime minister's representative responsible for cross-border autonomy affairs, said that more than half a thousand municipalities support the goals of the Rákóczi Association, including the enrollment support that young people from across the border receive in order to begin their studies in Hungarian schools.

The program started in Felvidék, and then the association extended it to Bihar county, Vojvodina, Subcarpathia and Csángóföld - he reminded, adding that approximately 14-15 thousand children have benefited from the support so far.

The effectiveness of the program is indicated by the fact that previously 30 percent of school-age children in the Highlands began their studies in Slovak schools, but this has now decreased to 12-15 percent, he said.

Katalin Szili also reported that the local governments participating in the meeting adopted a declaration that they will continue to support the government's national policy in the future.

The renovated Rákóczi Hotel, Camp and Event Center of the Rákóczi Association was handed over on June 4, and the foundation stone of the sports complex built next to it was also held at that time. The camp can accommodate half a thousand students in one tour.
