On the topic of the initiative, it is worth recalling that the verbunk Hungarian music genre, which originated in the 18th was formed in the second half of the century. The German word Werbung means recruitment , and the purpose of recruiting combined with dance was to recruit Hungarian peasant boys for military service.
During the time of Mária Theresa, the music required for recruitment was mainly provided by a brass band, but this was foreign to the Hungarians, which is why the gypsy musicians got into verbunk music. Around 1770–80, verbunk music began to move from the gypsies to educated musicians. The last recruitment was held in 1848, after which the genre began to transform: it became gentler and more atmospheric. It was during this time that the inn and the palace were created. (poor people went to the tavern, and the rich went to the palaces). The origin of both is verbunkos.
