The Székelyudvarhely tragedy may have been caused by the digging of that particular ditch, which was the last straw. But who filled the rest of the glass?

The scapegoat is already there, now we just need to find those responsible - I would say in relation to the tragedy of the building collapse in Székelyudvarhely. Of course, it's easy to say, its implementation causes some complications, because the people involved make saves that we only saw from the Hungarian national team goalkeeper, Dénes Dibusz, in the European qualifier against the Montenegrins in Budapest.

Actually, the head of the company carrying out the works was the only one who didn't deny it very much, didn't try to wash himself clean, put the blame on someone else, or at least pretend that he did everything right and that there is nothing wrong in the world in this terrible tragedy.

Everyone knew about the drainage works, as they openly stated that the rainwater drainage was not solved, it happened that water flowed in through the window of the dining room, and sometimes sewage also came up. The people there were working on solving just that. That wouldn't have been a problem. The trouble may have been caused by the digging of the ditch, which was the last straw. But who filled the rest of the glass?

When the reporters of Pro TV asked Mayor Árpád Gálfi why the work was not preceded by a technical opinion, the city manager vehemently protested that such a thing was not necessary, as it was external work that had to be carried out at least two meters from the wall of the building. But that didn't happen, everyone could see it. The Udvarhely municipality was even surprised, as they said it was "a little incomprehensible" why the contractor deviated from the building permit requirements.

And the "deviation" was a good deep ditch along the entire length of the base of the wall.

As if it was a completely different work, drainage or what? This kind of thing is not such a blatant case anyway, because it is common practice in our mioritic landscapes that certain works are started as follows:

"Just listen! If you're already there, do that other work already. Don't worry, there is money for it, we will document it and pay it out." Although it goes against the law, it is not without precedent.

It is certain that if the contractor really worked for someone else at the base of the wall, then he certainly did not go after his own head, and especially not into his own pocket. In practice, the contractor embarked on work for which authorization was in progress at the town hall, but had not yet been given the go-ahead. He couldn't get it, because it had to meet much more serious requirements, especially regarding the safety of the building. In Hungarian, that certain trench digging really screamed after a technical opinion, but somehow they didn't want to hear it, because then evacuation would have been the immediate step, and that would have been too costly.

So the question arises, where was the construction inspector, which the builder, that is, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gyulafehérvár, should have provided according to the contract?

However, according to Pro TV, the archdiocese did not even sign a contract with the contractor, they agreed on the basis of mutual trust. If this was the case, then the whole work was not only irregular, but illegal!

We could ask where was the technical inspector provided by the contractor, who was also supposed to follow the correct progress of the works. And in case of deviation, he immediately stopped to order. It is not the case that we dig a big ditch out of personal diligence or at a verbal request, to see if it will be good for something...

There are also contradictions regarding the omens of tragedy. After the accident, the students told the press that even at the beginning of the work, increasingly large cracks appeared on the walls of the dormitory. Which some parents confirmed.

However, the school's management denied this, according to the director, neither student nor educator, nor verbally or in writing, indicated that there was a problem with the building in the part where they work. Maybe the students saw it wrong or imagined it? Who cares, snotty kids, they don't even know what they're talking about, do they? Anyway, there have been examples of this too, where previous confessions were changed to the contrary because "they did not serve the interests of certain parties."

The outer wall of a student dormitory in Székelyudvarhely collapsed, killing one child and injuring three others

There were rumors that the contractor could have asked for the property to be temporarily vacated, to which they were told that there was no need for such a thing during the four-year renovation of the main building, and it won't be this time either. No need to worry. Let's not complicate things!

In conclusion, the answers to the frequently asked questions are useless if they often contradict each other and only increase the confusion. In addition, they raise additional, "uncomfortable" questions.

If we are looking for the innocent, the innocent, they were recently dead in the boarding house. One of them died there.

In Romania, there are many precedents for placing the blame on the victim in connection with a tragedy, so that everyone else can get away with it. Since this would be a blatant impossibility here, the parties involved are fighting back, explaining their certificates, thousands of scapegoats are being trained. Maybe not by accident. We've also seen someone take the mess away with them so that no one else gets muddy.

So there is still a lot to clarify here. And there are factors, digging deeper than the contractor went. We owe it to the clear truth to come to the surface, because those who did nothing wrong paid a high price for what happened. In fact, with the exception of the students, everyone else is responsible for what happened. More or less.

Holding decision-making and responsible positions not only means that we bask in the glory when everything is on track, but also assumes a responsible attitude when things go wrong online. Despite this, I do not expect anyone to take responsibility. Ours is not fashion.
