Through the growing tourist attraction of Somló Castle, it contributes to the revitalization of the region's economy, said the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for territorial administration on Friday, when the foundation stone of the investment was laid. István György, as reported by MTI, said: thanks to the program, 30 prominent monuments, 18 castles and 12 castles throughout the country will be renovated and enriched with new functions, 317.5 million forints will be spent on the castle in Somló.
The goal is to enrich the historical buildings with a function that is attractive to many through the development, and to provide a tourist offer for all age groups. He called it gratifying that thanks to the government's good epidemic management strategy, the situation is developing favorably, so we opened one and a half months ahead of other European countries, which also has a beneficial effect on tourism.
Tamás Glázer, the managing director of the National Heritage Development Nonprofit Kft., said that in the Somló castle, among other things, the inner gate of the castle, the former executioner's gate, and an exhibition that can be visited free of charge will be restored. As part of the development, the openings in the walls will be excavated, the internal walking level will be restored, the partition walls and doors will be reconstructed, the courtyard will be paved, drainage will be built, and a green area will be created.
In Veszprém County, the Sümeg Castle and the Bishop's Palace, the Nagyvázsony Castle and the Várpalota Castle will await visitors in a renewed form. Zoltán Kovács, the region's Fidesz national assembly representative, pointed out that the renewed Somló castle - in addition to the Somló wine region, which is the smallest in the country but the most special wine region in the country due to its wines - further increases the attractiveness of the area.
