The interest in the 219,000 HUF one-time subsidy is outstanding, in the week since it was announced, applications worth more than one and a half billion HUF have been received - said Sándor Bodó. The Secretary of State responsible for employment policy of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) added in the ministry's statement on Wednesday that entrepreneurs who were not entitled to wage subsidies due to a lack of employees can take advantage of the opportunity to facilitate the restart.
The emergency measures necessary to protect human life and health due to the coronavirus put a particularly heavy burden on sectors that were forced to suspend their operations. The sectoral wage subsidy significantly helped the majority of businesses to stay afloat and preserve jobs. The compensation support for the self-employed is mainly available to entrepreneurs operating in the retail trade, tourism and hospitality, accommodation services or leisure sectors who could not apply for wage support due to a lack of employees.
The self-employed in 56 main activities affected by emergency restrictions can receive an amount equal to the guaranteed minimum wage, i.e. HUF 219,000. With the one-time support, the government will provide help to about 100-120 thousand people affected, among others, for example, hairdressers, beauticians, tour guides, entertainers and driving school instructors.
The regulation also allows the application of support even after a business has been suspended. The one-time contribution can be requested not only for full-time activities, so it can also be applied to businesses operated as a second job or as a pensioner, explained the ITM.
The easy-to-fill, one-page application is available on the government website and munka.hu. The raison d'être of the program is proven by the fact that access to the latter portal has increased tenfold since the announcement. Applications can be submitted to the employment departments of district offices until the end of the emergency. From the beginning of June, the labor support of Enterprises is available to a wider range of people, in which the employment of a job seeker is encouraged for six months with a total of up to HUF 600,000 - Sándor Bodó was quoted as saying in the announcement.
