Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a congratulatory letter to Václav Klaus, the former president of the Czech Republic, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday, Bertalan Havasi, Deputy State Secretary in charge of the Prime Minister's Press Office, informed MTI on Saturday.
"After thirty-two long years, a war of freedom is again taking place in Europe. This time, we are marching into battle to preserve our Christian-conservative traditions, our sovereign nation-states, and our Central European identity," wrote Viktor Orbán, adding: the example of Václav Klaus is an important handhold in this struggle, since he not only governed his own country in the direction of a market economy, and thus a new century, but also played a significant role in Central Europe becoming the continent's economic engine.
"I am pleased that I was able to greet you in Budapest twice in 2018, and that we had the opportunity to further deepen our friendship, taking into account the challenges facing Europe and the future of our region. I am grateful for his support for Hungary at all times, and in the spirit of this, I am proud to be able to greet Mr. President today as a good friend not only of myself, but of the entire Hungarian nation," said the Prime Minister.
