Judit Varga said: the declaration initiated by the Benelux states "starts with a deliberate false claim that the passages included in the Hungarian child protection package are openly discriminatory and openly violate the freedom of expression, this is simply not true".
He added that despite his request to "read together" the text of the legislation, critics should point out the lines where the acquired rights of any social group are curtailed . The minister believes that the arguments that the passages of the European Charter of Human Rights state that the parent has the right to determine what kind of education he wishes to provide for his child will "fall away" from the critics.
Judit Varga also complained that "state declarations are circulated in such a way that they did not bother to contact the Hungarian government before drafting them and clarify the meaning of the words and the true scope of the law".
Speaking about the procedure according to Article 7, the minister said that it has been going on for more than three years, and he also indicated at Tuesday's meeting that it would be worthwhile to separate from it those cases that contained purely legal issues and had already been clarified.
He pointed out: a significant part of the Sargentini report deals with political and ideological issues, a "political witch hunt". He included the issue of migration, the difference in the perception of family politics and national politics, which he said "will not reach a resting point, so the procedure could even last forever". Judit Varga evaluated it as follows: the EU has become an ideological hostage, the procedure according to Article 7 has been operating as a political blackmail tool since its birth, and its creation did not even comply with the legislation, since it is not about the law, but expresses an open political disagreement out and connects various blackmail devices to it.
