János Árpád Potápi, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy, gave a speech in Besztercebánya in the highlands IV. At the ceremonial unveiling of Béla's statue.
The IV. A statue was erected in Besztercebánya, which was raised to the status of a city by Béla, and which today has practically no Hungarian population, partly from public donations and partly thanks to various grants, including the support of the State Secretariat for National Policy.
In his speech at the ceremonial unveiling of the statue, János Árpád Potápi emphasized: the handing over of the statue is an occasion that reminds us that there are many figures in the past of the two nations who connect them, and we can trust that there will be more like them in the future.
Recalling the actions of the monarch, also known as the second founder of the country, the state secretary spoke about their message that is still valid today. He pointed out: IV. Béla had to deal with many obstacles during the reconstruction of the country, but he always did it with the attitude that "only by trusting in life, with patience and perseverance can you build something big out of small things" .
The state secretary pointed out: last week, the building of the birthplace of another great figure of the common past, Ferenc Rákóczi , in Bors, was renovated and handed over, and these results are due to the realization that " building on our common past, we can build a common future again today".
"We are all at home in the Carpathian Basin, so let's feel at home in it!" - emphasized János Árpád Potápi. He added: IV. Béla's statue will be a reminder that "we must always act together for the renewal and rise of our nations and regions", because this is the only way to ensure that the region, which has functioned as an organic unit for centuries, can rise again with a united force.
Stanislav Micev, the director of the local Slovak National Uprising Museum, came up with the idea of erecting a statue of the Hungarian ruler six years ago ARC. The full-length statue of Béla - created by Péter Gáspár - is located in the historic center of the city. The pedestal of the monument has inscriptions in four languages: Slovak, Latin, Hungarian and English.
