Hungary and Poland are being attacked because their governments go against the international liberal mainstream, stated Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó in an interview with the Polish public service news television (TVP Info) on Monday in connection with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's criticism of the Hungarian child protection law.

Hungary is used to "such verbal aggression, attacks from the liberal mainstream," said the foreign minister. He underlined: the aforementioned law serves to protect children and their parents.

Hungary and Poland will be attacked as long as they take care of national interests and implement a policy based on Christian values, as long as the family and its traditional understanding become an essential element of government policy, he said.

According to him, such attacks are not based on any rational reasoning, but can be explained by the fact that "someone wants to remove from power the last governments that go against the international liberal mainstream".
