22,000 families applied for the village family home-building discount (villasi csok), worth nearly HUF 120 billion, as part of the Hungarian Village Program, which started two years ago. Thanks to the program's measures, it was possible to stop the population decline in nearly 1,000 settlements.
The goal of the Hungarian Village Program, launched in 2019, is to stop the negative demographic and social processes in small settlements that were neglected under previous left-wing governments and had completely lost their appeal. Therefore, the main points of the program are the improvement of the quality of life in the villages, as well as the special support of home creation and home renovation in small settlements.
As part of the Hungarian Village Program, village csok can be applied for since July 1, 2019, and the range of subsidized settlements has expanded since then, and support is currently available in 2,678 small settlements. The village certificate, which can be applied for real estate purchases, expansions, and renovations, has been popular since its inception. Most of the 22,000 applicant families had three or more children, and they also applied for the combined form of support, including purchase and renovation, in the largest proportion. 53 percent of all applicants use the combined support. The average amount of support paid in this form is HUF 7.7 million
Development has started in settlements with previously declining populations, there is an outstanding interest in empty houses and plots of land, and based on data from the Central Statistical Office, nearly 1,000 settlements can show a growing population.
The possibility of applying for the village allowance is definitely available until June 30, 2022, the program's budget is open from above, so the exhaustion of the budget should not be an obstacle, whoever submits a successful application in the next year will receive the support.
