More than 42,000 people have already applied for compensation support for the self-employed - informed Tamás Schanda, parliamentary and strategic dream secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM), in a statement sent to MTI on Friday.

As Tamás Schanda noted, the government's goal is still that "anyone who wants to can work in Hungary". According to his point of view, the results achieved in building a work-based economy after 2010 have proven to be crisis-proof, and in the first quarter of 2021, employment in Hungary increased to the greatest extent among the EU member states.
The state secretary announced the details: entrepreneurs operating in the retail trade, tourism and hospitality, accommodation services or leisure sectors who could not apply for sectoral wage support due to a lack of employees can benefit from compensation support for the self-employed. Self-employed persons engaged in one of the 56 main activities affected by the temporary restrictions can receive an amount equal to the guaranteed minimum wage. The HUF 219,000 one-time subsidy will make it easier for hairdressers, beauticians, tour guides, entertainers and driving school instructors to restart, he explained.
According to the announcement, the program's popularity is shown by the fact that every tenth visitor to the munka.hu page visits the employment portal with an interest in its details. Applications can be submitted to the employment departments of the district offices from June 8 until the end of the state of emergency.
Citing Tamás Schanda, the ITM announcement indicated that the government made labor support for businesses available to a wider range of personnel from June 1st. The program supports the placement of a job seeker with a total of up to HUF 600,000 for six months. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the companies have requested a total of nearly HUF 7.9 billion in contributions for the employment of more than 15,000 people. There are still many young people among the beneficiaries, about 8,700 of those received so far are related to the admission of people under the age of 25, the information sheet reads.
