Hungary remains second in the protection ranking of EU countries. Our country is currently one of the safest countries in the European Union from an epidemiological point of view.
Hungary's epidemiological defense is extremely successful, we are ahead of all but one of the EU member states in the protection ranking, the government announced on Facebook. In Hungary, 52.67 percent of the population has already received the second dose of vaccine, which means that our country is still one of the safest countries in Europe.
Only Malta continues to be ahead of our country in terms of the number of vaccinated people, all the other EU countries were ranked behind our country in the latest ranking, the Hungarian government announced on its social media page.
They also attached the table showing the percentage of the population in each country that received two vaccinations. According to this, 5,145,484 people in Hungary are already fully protected, that is, 52.67 percent of the 9.7 million population have taken the second vaccine against the coronavirus.
A better rate than this can only be observed in Malta, where 67.38 percent of the population is currently protected against the virus. The third step of the imaginary podium is occupied by Cyprus, although well behind Hungary, since more than half of the population there is still waiting for the second vaccination. So far, 45.09 percent of Cypriots can consider themselves protected against the infection. With just over 12 percent coverage, Bulgaria became the leader, but the Finns, Romanians, Croatians and Latvians are not doing well either: in the mentioned countries, less than a third of the population is fully protected.
The table also shows that there are twenty EU member states where protection still does not reach forty percent. Despite the extremely successful epidemic control in our country, the government is trying to prevent a possible fourth wave, the Gergely Gulyás just announced in this week's Government Information that another vaccination campaign is being announced.
According to this, general practitioners can personally visit those over the age of sixty who have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The minister pointed out that Hungary is currently one of the safest countries in the European Union from an epidemiological point of view.
He added that the fourth wave and the delta variant of the coronavirus are dangerous for those who have not been vaccinated. - According to virologists, there will be a fourth wave, but all vaccines used in Hungary provide protection, the unvaccinated are the ones at risk. Although both the British variant and the delta variant spread faster, this only applies to those who do not have vaccinations, he explained.
Ferenc Jakab , head of the Action Group for Corona Virus Research, also reported to our newspaper the other day that although the delta variant can also infect vaccinated people, their symptoms are much milder.
Vaccinated people (if they become infected) survive the disease practically without hospital care.
So it is certain, if not from infection, but from the serious course of the disease, vaccinations clearly protect us, he underlined.
