At its meeting on Monday, the operative group responsible for restarting community life made decisions to ease the situation of people with type 1 diabetes and to simplify the establishment of daycare centers, the minister without portfolio responsible for families and the head of the operative group announced at a press conference in Budapest.

A new type of insulin pump will be available with state support

Katalin Novák said after the meeting of the operative body that a new type of insulin pump will be available to people with type 1 diabetes with state support from August 1.
The pump automatically administers insulin when the blood sugar level rises, it can prevent not only high but also low blood sugar levels, he explained. According to his description, for this new generation pump, those under the age of 18 and young people studying in higher education receive 98 percent support, while adults receive 80 percent support.

If someone uses a sensor suitable for measuring tissue sugar and would also use this new insulin pump, they will receive state support for both. In addition, he can finance the remaining part from public medical care, i.e. essentially this state-of-the-art technology will be free for the children, he explained. He noted that the decision has a budgetary impact of approximately HUF two billion.

The minister pointed out that the aim of decisions concerning nurseries is to reduce administrative obstacles and to enable these institutions to start operating sooner. He said that in the future, the nursery school where the necessary conditions for starting one of the groups are available. He added that family nurseries can start in groups of eight instead of seven.

He also spoke about the fact that the conditions for the construction of nurseries, which were more detailed than previously necessary, had been simplified.

We would like to sell Hungarian literature and light music

Demeter Szilárd , director general of the Petőfi Literary Museum, reporting on the decisions made in the field of cultural life the board of trustees of the Foundation for Hungarian Culture, established by the Parliament at the beginning of the summer, was established. Almost two billion forints will be awarded in an open tender to the actors of the Hungarian light music scene, and almost one billion forints will go to the book culture , he explained. Regarding the latter, he said that translations will also be supported, as they trust that the fourth wave of the coronavirus will not take away the international book fairs. We are moving towards export activities again, we want to sell Hungarian literature and light music, he said.

Hungary is the first in Europe to provide the possibility of the third vaccination

Katalin Novák said that there is a chance that the number of cases will increase in Hungary, primarily due to the delta variant of the coronavirus. Vaccination is the only solution against this - declared the minister, encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. According to him, those who are not vaccinated are at greater risk than during other waves of the epidemic, because the delta variant is more contagious than before. He confirmed that a separate campaign will be launched to vaccinate people over 60.

He also spoke about the fact that nearly 50 percent of the 16-18-year-olds were vaccinated, but only 13-14 percent of the 12-15-year-olds received the vaccine. Parents are free to decide whether to vaccinate their children, children only receive Pfizer vaccines.

He added: they will make it possible to receive vaccinations in schools on the two days before the start of school, August 30 and 31. The politician noted that he administered the vaccine to all three of his children.

He said that Hungary is the first in Europe to provide the possibility of the third vaccination from August 1. In response to a question, he said that the experts recommend the heterologous vaccination series, that is, the administration of a different type of vaccine than the first two as the third vaccination.

He said that health workers will be required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus so that patients can be safer. According to him, this will not be a big burden for healthcare workers, because 90 percent of the workers are already vaccinated.

The government does not deal with press news

He reported that in the field of ice hockey, it is recommended to the government to support the operation of the academy system.

Katalin Novák confirmed: the government supports small settlements receiving financial support for the organization of village days. He added: this year is the year of volunteering in Hungary, 150 organizations have joined this initiative.
