The program of Pope Francis' visit to Budapest and Slovakia was made public, the secretariat of the International Eucharistic Congress told MTI on Wednesday. On September 12, Pope Francis will take part in the closing mass of the Catholic World Event in Hősök Square in Budapest.
According to the secretariat, after twenty-one years, the head of the Catholic Church will participate in the International Eucharistic Congress.
As it was written, the plane carrying the Pope will arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport before eight o'clock in the morning on September 12.
After the official greetings, the head of the Catholic Church will meet with President János Áder and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and then with the bishops at the Museum of Fine Arts.
Then, from 10 a.m., Pope Francis will receive representatives of the Ecumenical Council of Hungarian Churches and representatives of Jewish communities. The Holy Father will speak at both events.
The closing Mass of the International Eucharistic Congress will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Hősök Square, celebrated by Pope Francis.
There will be a farewell ceremony at Ferenc Liszt International Airport from 2:30 p.m., after which the head of the Catholic Church will continue to Bratislava. During his three-day visit to Slovakia, he will meet church and secular leaders, members of the Roma and Jewish communities.
Pope Francis will visit the cities of Kassa and Eperjes, and on September 15 he will hold mass at the Pauline shrine in Sasvár (Sastín).
