More than 20,000 families have already applied for the home renovation subsidy, which more than 10,500 families have already received, and the amount of the disbursed subsidies exceeded HUF 17 billion, the minister without portfolio responsible for families said on his official Facebook page on Friday.

In her post, Katalin Novák reminded that the program launched in January provides assistance to those families who are expecting or raising at least one child, who already have their own home and want to modernize, beautify, and renovate it.

The home renovation subsidy helps those who want to raise their children in better conditions, the minister said in his video message.

He recalled that it is a non-refundable grant of up to HUF three million, with which half of the amount paid for the renovation can be claimed back.

The home renovation grant and the related loan can be spent, for example, on kitchen or bathroom renovations, roof replacement, fence construction, new doors and windows, as well as the installation of solar collectors and solar panels, he listed.

"We are confident that we will be able to help many families with the home renovation grant," Katalin Novák said, adding that grant applications can be submitted until the end of next year.
