France is concerned about the confusion and "orchestration" of the issues in connection with the referendum on the Hungarian child protection law, Clément Beaune, the French Secretary of State responsible for European Union affairs, said on Friday.
I am worried about the Hungarian law adopted in mid-June, which will be subject to a referendum, but which is not exactly about this law," said the politician, arriving at an informal meeting with his EU colleagues in Brdo Castle in Slovenia.
He believed that the "orchestration" of the referendum on the law, which was also criticized by EU partners, and the confusion of things were "harmful and problematic within the European Union".
One of the topics of discussion at the meeting in Slovenia is how resilient the EU is to challenges and crises, and referring to this, Clément Beaune stated:
"Resilience means that we can jointly defend our values, which are sometimes attacked within the EU. We must give up nothing on these issues.”
