The "Lungo Drom" National Gypsy Interest Protection and Civic Association expressed its opinion in a statement after their congress on the activities of the Fidesz-KDNP government, their relationship with the opposition and the attacks on the child protection law. Their statement can be read below:
"Lungo Drom is committed to the government's policy, as a strategic ally of Fidesz, it continues to see the continuation of the government's social integration program as the primary means of creating the conditions necessary for the prosperity of the Hungarian Gypsies, and it continues to see the guarantee of protecting our values in the governance of the Fidesz-KDNP party alliance .
The left seeks to restore the conditions before 2010: they would push the disadvantaged into humiliating misery, instead of working to ensure a decent living, they want to gain power by getting the country into debt. They would give up the sovereignty of our country and endanger the future of both Hungarians and Gypsies; with the new wave of migration dictated and organized from abroad, they would expose our country and its citizens to an even greater health risk and serious social tension!
Lungo Drom will prevent the advance of the left and its electoral success. We must take action against pro-immigration efforts by all means and in order to preserve our welfare society!
The Congress discussed, among other things, the issue of child protection and migration.
Get your hands off our children and our families! - said the Congress. Lungo Drom considers it unacceptable that Brussels wants to impose its liberal ideology on Hungary and constantly attacks our country, violating its sovereignty.
Lungo Drom supports the referendum on the Child Protection Act and stands up for the protection of children. The Association will do everything to ensure that the largest number of Gypsies participate in the referendum!
Confirming its previous decision regarding mass illegal migration, the Congress declared that it rejects our country becoming a country of immigrants. Hungarian family policy measures have received great recognition worldwide, as overcoming demographic problems is one of the main goals everywhere. In our country, the population is not increasing as a result of immigration, but thanks to the government's complex family support measures."
Flórián Farkas was again elected president of the organization at the congress.
