In Austria, Attila Vidnyánszky's 2013 production in Gmünd, near the Czech border, at the festival called Átrárások, which aims to create a bridge between the sides of the settlement divided into two countries after the war, was even more successful than expected, Origo reports on the event.
As a result of the First World War, Gmünd, on the Austrian-Czech border, became a divided settlement just like Komárom, since it had almost no connection with České Velenice on the Czech side until the beginning of the nineties. The now long-established Übergänge - Übergänge - general art festival wants to create cultural bridges between the two countries. to Attila Vidnyánszky's great 2013 performance Zoltán Reburied, Miklós Zelei's play, was an old plan of the festival organizers. At the event, which was presented for the first time in Austria this year, the production was a resounding success...
... Miklós Zelei's shocking drama is a tragic grotesque unfulfilled love story of the former Czechoslovak-Soviet border, directed by Attila Vidnyánszky in 2013, which has already reached several settlements on the border and beyond. Gmünd was the first presentation in Austria, and the presentation, which could be followed on the projector with German and Czech subtitles, was welcomed by the visitors of the festival.
"We were a little afraid that we would be playing to audiences who were no longer very interested in what was going on nearly 1,000 kilometers away from them. Beyond our expectations, great interest, attention and shock followed the play. It turned out for me that even non-Hungarians can understand our stories, you just have to go to them and tell them, " said cultural manager Márton Méhes.
The play's invitation was also supported by the National Cultural Fund and the Vienna Collegium Hungaricum.
