In June 2021, the lectures of the May 2016 scientific academic conference on the research required for the Paks2 site license were finally published in the Magyar Tudomány magazine, after a long delay. These show that Hungary has nothing to hide, the new Paks site is geologically suitable for the expansion of the nuclear power plant.

Austro-Hungarian hair-splitting confusion

The new Paks site is geologically suitable for the expansion of the nuclear power plant, no matter what certain Austrian greens and their Hungarian servants claim. The results of the geological investigations of the Paks site carried out a few years ago [1], the discussion of the reports (e.g. [2]) were still available. In June 2021, the lectures of the May 2016 academic conference on the research required for site licensing were published in the journal Magyar Tudomány [3]. It is clearer than day that Hungary has nothing to hide. As one of the leading researchers stated in 2017: before the 2014-2016 investigations, they themselves feared that skeletons would fall out, but they only found a few mice. Casting doubt on the results of the Hungarian investigations, the dark green forces managed to get the Austrian Ministry of Environmental Protection to analyze the results of the Hungarian investigations on the basis of flimsy arguments, claiming that the area is at risk of earthquakes. In collusion with Hungarian nuclear power plant opponents, they began an organized attack [4]: they published coordinated articles (even in EuObserver), held a conference and a site visit in Paks in June 2021, and contacted the European Commission directly. According to the European Commission's response, "decisions related to the licensing of nuclear facilities are the national responsibility of the member states. Nevertheless, the Commission monitors the situation of the Paks II project and may, if appropriate, initiate infringement proceedings in case of non-compliance. The left-liberal press echoed the position of the Austrians throughout July, but now is the time for them to shut up: the seismological questioning of the site's suitability: frivolous. One of the diagrams in the Hungarian Science study written by seismologists (Figure 1) shows in black and white that Paks is not threatened by a "destructive earthquake", contrary to what the HVG, among others, fantasizes about [6].

Seismicity of the Pannon basin area. The black circles show the epicenter of the earthquakes, the size of the circles is proportional to the magnitude. The star shows the site, the circle with a radius of 100 and 200 km helps orientation (Figure 1, [5]) We call on the unauthorized Austrians (above all Green Party MP Thomas Waitz and anti-nuclear activist Martin Lischauer) and the very transparent network of comrades-friends-family, stop causing confusion.
