From August, ten new universities will join the model-changing institutions, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) told MTI on Sunday.
The government is committed to making the entire system of domestic higher education and all its actors interested in the presentation of results that are as successful as possible and that elicit recognition at the international level. By strengthening the competitiveness of universities, the standard of education of Hungarian youth and Hungary's innovation performance increases.
AS OF THE FIRST OF AUGUST, A TOTAL OF 21 INSTITUTIONS ARE ALREADY WORKING IN THE NEW MODEL, IN FUNDAMENTAL MAINTENANCE.
It will join the ten universities that have already changed models on August 1, 2021
the Budapest University of Economics,
the University of Debrecen,
the University of Dunaújváros,
the Hungarian University of Dance,
the University of Nyíregyháza,
the University of Óbuda,
the University of Pécs,
the Semmelweis University,
the University of Szeged
and the University of Physical Education.
They added: in the world-famous wine region, based on foreign examples, the first domestic higher education institution dealing primarily with viticulture and winemaking, the Tokaj-Hegyalja University, will be founded.
Also at the initiative of the Senate, in accordance with historical traditions, Eszterházy Károly University will be maintained by the Archdiocese of Eger.
They reminded me: in April this year, the Parliament decided to hand over the rights to maintain higher education institutions to public interest trust foundations performing public tasks.
The transformation increases the flexibility of the institutional operation, they wrote, so that in the future, the foundations that maintain the institutions will ensure the high-quality performance of public tasks, directly or through the institutions they maintain, in a private form independent of the current government.
Thanks to a more predictable operating environment, institutions can respond more quickly and efficiently to changing economic needs. Model-changing universities, as engines of local social life, intellectual training and economic development, can provide the training, research, innovation, art, sports and cultural service background to increase the competitiveness of their region and Hungary, they emphasized.
They touched on the following: more resources, a more attractive employee situation, performance-based advancement, better infrastructure, and higher requirements will lead to an improvement in quality. Hungarian universities can advance in international higher education rankings.
FROM SEPTEMBER 2021, MORE THAN 180,000 STUDENTS, JUST 70 PERCENT OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WILL STUDY IN MODEL-CHANGING INSTITUTIONS
- can be read in the announcement of the ITM.
