In July, based on the decree of the chief medical officer, and in view of the spread of the sa delta variant, those entering the territory of Slovakia were divided into vaccinated and those subject to quarantine. However, the Constitutional Court suspended the validity of this decree on July 16, based on the petition of the opposition politicians, so its older version came into effect. It counted on the travel semaphore and divided the countries from which the travelers arrived into safe and risky.

The Constitutional Court objected to the fact that the decree qualifies as vaccinated those who only received the first dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus. On July 19, Ján Mikas responded to the constitutional court's objection with a new decree. In relation to those vaccinated with the first dose of vaccine, who had traveled abroad in the meantime, it was stipulated that if they were vaccinated by July 9, with a negative test result, their obligation to quarantine was terminated on the first day of their return...

...Regarding commuters, the new regulation of the Office of Public Health should come out this week, which takes into account that they can also have an antigen-based test done when crossing the border...

...Those who are not vaccinated must register in the eHranica system every time they return. After they return home, the obligation to quarantine comes into effect, which ends on the 14th day even if they are symptom-free. The quarantine obligation also applies to persons living in the same household who are not vaccinated or do not enjoy any other exemption from the quarantine obligation. Quarantine can end as soon as possible with a negative RT-PCR test on the 5th day, the costs of the test will be reimbursed by the state. They are automatically invited to the test based on their registration in the eHranica system. Among the unvaccinated, those who cannot be vaccinated due to health reasons and have a medical certificate to this effect, as well as those who can show a negative PCR test result no older than 72 hours, enjoy an exception.

Until the first of September, commuters and all those who have a permanent or temporary residence in the border areas of the neighboring country within 100 kilometers of the border must present a negative PCR test result no older than 7 days when crossing the border.

Commuters only need to register once in the eHranica system until the first of September and enjoy an exception from the quarantine obligation if they have an employer's certificate and a negative test result no older than 7 days. The new regulation should also take into account the use of antigen-based tests, but it is questionable how long these will be valid.

Children under the age of 12 do not have to register, for those aged 12-18 the first registration is valid until August 9. Children under the age of 12 do not need to be tested, for them the quarantine obligation ended when unvaccinated persons living in the same household with them. From August 9, however, the deciding factor will be whether the child older than 12 is vaccinated.
