The Basic Law of Hungary has proven itself over the past 10 years. It was a strong and reliable compass for the economic turnaround that took place in recent years, for the economic and financial strengthening of Hungary, for the assertion of national sovereignty, for the protection of Christian cultural values, for the creation of a work-based society, for the protection of family values and family support, for the protection of children, and for the cross-border to create national unity - the Government Information Center said in its announcement of August 4.

It is no coincidence that the political forces seeking to eliminate Hungarian national sovereignty demand again and again the destruction of the new Hungarian Basic Law. The Basic Law begins with the National Creed, which establishes Hungary's place in Western civilization and recalls the spiritual values and historical facts that are outstanding in the history of our country. The constitution denies the statute of limitations for crimes against humanity committed against the Hungarian nation and its citizens under the rule of the National Socialist and Communist dictatorships. The National Creed also states that Hungary's freedom today can be traced back to our 1956 revolution. It emphasizes the importance of the struggle for freedom and independence.

The government requests the public administration institutions to post the National Creed. We also ask the government, state administration and local government bodies to display the National Creed in a prominent place in public buildings, thus paying tribute to the Hungarian nation. In Europe, which is currently struggling with crises – in the age of epidemics and migration – the government considers it particularly important to symbolically strengthen the values that have helped Hungary and the Hungarian nation survive in the past centuries. Hungary is still under continuous and aggressive attacks today because it firmly stands up for its national sovereignty, its national, economic and financial interests, European Christian culture, and the protection of families and children. Therefore, the sentences recorded in the National Creed 10 years ago are perhaps even more important today.

We recognize the role of Christianity in preserving the nation. We appreciate the different religious traditions of our country. (…) We bear responsibility for our descendants, therefore we protect the living conditions of the generations that come after us by carefully using our material, intellectual and natural resources. We believe that our national culture is a rich contribution to the diversity of European unity. We respect the freedom and culture of other peoples, we strive for cooperation with all nations of the world. We believe that the basis of human existence is human dignity. We believe that individual freedom can only unfold in cooperation with others. We trust in the jointly shaped future, in the dedication of the younger generations. We believe that our children and grandchildren will make Hungary great again with their talent, perseverance and fortitude."
