We are interested in a strong European Union, and we obviously want to take part in the discussions about how to make the EU strong again - emphasized Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó yesterday.
The head of the ministry held a joint press conference with Gordan Grlić-Radman, Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs (pictured), and Jadranka Jokszimovic, Serbia's Minister responsible for European integration, who attended the annual meeting of Hungarian ambassadors in Budapest.
- Hungary and Croatia live in close interdependence, both nations can benefit from the good cooperation between the parties - stated Péter Szijjártó. The Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs highlighted that the pandemic did not affect the economic relationship between the two countries, and that tourism also developed well this year: Hungarian tourists still see Croatia as a safe destination.
"Many things change in the world, but geopolitics does not, neighbors always remain neighbors," said Gordan Grlić-Radman. Both governments are based on original European Christian values, and this was probably one of the reasons why Croatia did not join the heckling campaign launched by several European countries after the adoption of our child protection law, he said.
Péter Szijjártó explained: the ministers dealing with European affairs of several countries initiated a joint document about allowing NGOs to enter kindergartens and schools in Hungary in order to spread sexual propaganda. He also spoke about the fact that since the migration crisis of 2015 is vivid in the memories of Hungary and Croatia, it is necessary to prevent new mass, illegal migration waves towards Europe caused by the situation in Afghanistan.
- Therefore, we will not participate in any distribution mechanism, we will only accept those Afghans who worked with the Hungarian soldiers who served in Afghanistan - stressed Péter Szijjártó.
