Where a new educational institution is built, a new community is born. Where a new community is born, the future is built on sure bastions - Minister of Justice Judit Varga declared on Thursday at the handover ceremony of the Vackor Hungarian Preschool Education and Training Institute in Subotica.
"More than a year after the foundation stone was laid, we can look around with satisfaction and pride. The modern building, completed with joint cooperation and youthful vigor, is missing only the youngest generation to fill the spaces with life, bubbly, and laughter," he pointed out.
According to Judit Varga, since the reform era, the issue of the Hungarian language and culture has not ceased to be a national issue.
He emphasized that the preservation and nurturing of the language is also the key to national existence and survival. "The attachment to the mother tongue and culture begins in early childhood, the rhymes, nursery rhymes, and folk songs learned from our parents and grandparents provide us with a guide for life, which we then pass on to our own children." Therefore, as he said, there cannot be a more important and fruitful arena for nurturing and keeping Hungarian roots alive than the nursery school and the kindergarten.
He explained: among other reasons, the Hungarian government created the Carpathian Basin kindergarten development program - through which the current development was also realized - so that it could support the future of the Hungarian communities across the border in the long term.
"This program, together with other economic and educational investments, is our joint success, which ensures the survival and prosperity of the 15 million Hungarians in their homeland," emphasized the minister.
István Pásztor, the president of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association (VMSZ), emphasized in his celebratory speech: they cannot say enough how proud it has been to be Hungarian in Vojvodina in the last ten years. "We say this rightly, because we have a motherland behind us that pays attention to us, helps us according to its financial means and beyond, so that we can prosper in our own homeland while preserving our identity"
The value of the investment is HUF 884 million. The institution will start operating from September. It can provide educational opportunities of outstanding quality to three kindergarten and two kindergarten groups, i.e. about one hundred Hungarian children.
